We get asked this question often. MBK was started in 1995 by me, Mike Hagen . I have over 20 years experience in the construction business and have worked very successfully as a tradesman, superintendent, project manager, and business owner. I have a Masters degree from the University of Michigan in engineering and a bachelors degree from Lawrence Tech in construction engineering. I assume overall field supervision of projects and am very good at problem solving, especially structural issues.

The company's name was actually created by my son Brett when he was five years old on his way to day care. Brett and I were discussing the possibility of me starting a construction company and that we needed to come up with a name. Brett said we should come up with a name that included all of the people in our family. I didn't think that Mike , Karen, Brett, and Kyle Construction Company had a very good ring to it or even Hagen Construction Company for that matter. Brett said how about a letter from each name and we settled on MBK for Mike, Brett, Kyle (and Karen too). I said, "how about MBK Construction?" Brett said, "how about MBK Constructors?". I liked the sound of that and made my first executive decision and the rest as they say is history.
